Watanabe Chemical Co., Ltd. was founded in 1949 by Taisaku Watanabe, a managing director of a major pharmaceutical company, as a distributor specializing in raw materials, mainly selling materials from the pharmaceutical company’s production.
The company has built up a history of more than 70 years, starting off with the food materials (mainly vitamins and seasonings), and fine chemical raw materials (functional resins, resin additives, various organic acids as well as inorganic functional materials), and recently focusing on importing and selling not only domestic raw materials but also overseas raw materials (vitamins, vitamin derivatives, pharmaceutical intermediates and APIs)of fine chemicals, pharmaceutical and food raw materials.
In order to flexibly adapt to changes in the times and environment and grow, we are working together with five themes: stable business expansion, new business development, strengthening of organizational capabilities, human resource development and active recruitment, and strict compliance.
In preparation for the 80th anniversary of Watanabe Chemical, our five-year plan called WATANABE 100 VISION 80, has been formulated to further enhance trading company functions and actively invest not only in domestic business but also in overseas business with the aim of becoming a company that will last 100 years. We are expanding our bases in China, Singapore, and Malaysia, and are striving to realize trading company functions worldwide.

Overseas Expansion
Since our foundation, we have had extensive experience in trading with European companies, especially in the pharmaceutical business.
In recent years, the chemical industry has experienced significant development and growth within Asia, and Watanabe Chemical has established local subsidiaries in China (Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Tianjin), Singapore, and Malaysia to increase the weight of trade and expand more aggressively.
We have our eyes set on overseas as well.
With our trading experiences, as well as significant development and growth in the chemical industry within Asia, Watanabe Chemical has established local subsidiaries in China (Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin (and Chengdu)), Singapore and Malaysia. We are proactive to expand our business outside Japan.
